Hyundai India Breaks April Sales Record - Venue SUV Drives 17% Growth Surge

Hyundai Motor India opened FY2027 with its strongest-ever April performance, reporting domestic sales of 51,902 units in April 2026, a 16.96% year-on-year increase from 44,374 units a year ago. Total sales, including exports, stood at 65,610 units, marking a 7.96% rise compared to 60,774 units in April 2025.

The growth was largely led by robust domestic demand, which helped offset a decline in exports. Overseas shipments fell 16.41% to 13,708 units from 16,400 units last year. On a sequential basis, domestic sales slipped 5.74% from 55,064 units in March 2026, indicating some moderation after a strong previous month, but the annual growth trend remained firm.

A key highlight was the strong performance of the Venue SUV, which recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic sales at 12,420 units. Recent updates, special editions, and a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for the Venue and Venue N Line appear to have strengthened consumer confidence and boosted demand.

Hyundai’s broader product strategy also played a role in sustaining volumes. Models such as the Exter, Verna, Ioniq 5, and Creta, along with limited editions like the Grand i10 Nios Vibe Edition and Venue Knight Edition, helped maintain interest across segments.

The April numbers suggest Hyundai is increasingly leaning on domestic market strength amid global demand fluctuations affecting exports. The company’s diversified portfolio across hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and EVs continues to support steady growth.

Looking ahead, Hyundai is expected to build on this momentum with new launches and product updates, while recalibrating its export strategy in response to changing global conditions.
