Hyundai Planning All-New CRETA and i20; Launch Timeline and Key Details Revealed

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company is preparing a fresh wave of product launches in India, including next-generation versions of the Hyundai CRETA and Hyundai i20, as it seeks to strengthen its position in the country’s fast-growing passenger vehicle market.

The company has outlined plans to introduce 26 vehicles by 2030, including 20 internal combustion models and six electric vehicles. Alongside the new CRETA and i20, Hyundai is also working on a compact electric SUV, a hybrid version of the Hyundai Palisade, a rugged off-road SUV, and a new crossover aimed at competing with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.

Testing of the next-generation CRETA and i20 has already begun in South Korea and Europe. The new CRETA, one of Hyundai’s most important products in India is expected to be unveiled by late 2026, with a market launch targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Early test vehicles suggest the SUV will grow in size and adopt a longer wheelbase of around 2,690 mm, while moving to the global K3 platform shared with the new Kia Seltos. The model is likely to retain its existing petrol and diesel engine options, with the addition of a strong hybrid powertrain.

Meanwhile, the next-generation i20 is expected to make its global debut later this year ahead of a 2027 launch. The hatchback is likely to feature Hyundai’s latest design language, upgraded digital displays, and advanced driver assistance features while continuing with petrol engines, including mild-hybrid technology.

The upcoming models are part of Hyundai’s broader push to defend market share in India as competition intensifies across both SUV and premium hatchback segments.
