TruAlt Bioenergy Q4 Results 2026: Profit Pressured by Ethanol Slowdown Despite Strong Green Energy Expansion

TruAlt Bioenergy Limited reported mixed Q4 results 2026, with the company facing pressure on profitability due to weaker ethanol demand and lower offtake from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), even as its clean energy and biofuel expansion strategy continued to gain momentum.

India’s largest ethanol producer by installed capacity said consolidated total income for FY26 stood at ₹1,813.96 crore, down 7.85% from ₹1,968.53 crore in the previous financial year. Profit after tax (PAT) fell sharply by 33.94% to ₹96.87 crore from ₹146.64 crore a year earlier, while EBITDA slipped 1.85% to ₹362.35 crore.

The Q4 results 2026 come during a challenging period for the ethanol industry, where lower procurement by OMCs led to underutilization of production capacity across the sector. TruAlt said the decline was also influenced by higher finance costs and depreciation expenses after capitalizing new grain-based plant infrastructure.

On a standalone basis, revenue from operations dropped 9.33% to ₹1,704.65 crore, while EBITDA declined 5.35% to ₹337.71 crore. However, EBITDA margin improved to 19.81% from 18.98%, supported by operational efficiencies and higher contribution from value-added co-products.

The company continues to strengthen its operational base with a total ethanol capacity of 2,000 KLPD, of which around 1,300 KLPD now supports dual-feed operations. TruAlt also secured a Karnataka High Court order linked to a pending allocation of 15 crore litres, creating a potential future revenue opportunity of approximately ₹1,062 crore.

Beyond ethanol, growth remained strong in emerging businesses. The compressed biogas (CBG) segment recorded a 50.8% increase in revenue to ₹42.86 crore, while EBITDA more than doubled to ₹23.6 crore. TruAlt is also pushing long-term investments, including a proposed ₹2,250 crore Sustainable Aviation Fuel project and a wider bioenergy infrastructure rollout strategy.
