South Indian Bank<\/a> reported a strong set of Q1 results 2027<\/strong>, with net profit rising 17.3% year-on-year to \u20b9378 crore<\/strong>, supported by higher net interest income, improving asset quality, and lower provisioning. The private sector lender announced its April-June quarter earnings on July 16, reflecting steady growth across its core lending business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bank’s net interest income (NII)<\/strong> increased 23% to \u20b91,025 crore<\/strong>, compared with \u20b9833 crore<\/strong> in the same quarter last year. Gross advances also grew 17% year-on-year to \u20b91,04,368 crore<\/strong>, indicating healthy credit demand across key business segments. These Q1 results 2027<\/strong> highlight the lender’s continued focus on expanding quality lending while maintaining profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asset quality remained resilient during the quarter. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA) improved to 1.38%<\/strong> from 1.43%<\/strong> on a sequential basis, while net NPA declined to 0.26%<\/strong> from 0.29%<\/strong> in the previous quarter. On a yearly basis, gross NPA reduced significantly from around 3.6%<\/strong>, and net NPA improved from 0.68%<\/strong>, reflecting sustained recovery in the loan book. Meanwhile, provisions fell sharply to \u20b984.3 crore<\/strong> from \u20b9239.3 crore<\/strong> a year earlier, supporting earnings growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managing Director and CEO P.R. Seshadri<\/strong> said the bank continued to witness consistent growth across targeted business segments, driven by a strategy of acquiring quality assets. He added that the lender focused on low-risk lending in corporate finance, auto loans, and gold loans to build a balanced credit portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
